MJ Rest In Peace

I remember the time in India when we were kids, we used to listen to Micheal Jackson. Try to do some of his break dances moves especially moonwalk.

Best of his songs for me were:

Black or White
Thriller
Billie Jean
Smooth Criminal
Heal the World
Jam
They Don't care about us.
Beat it.

He was a sensational singer and exorbitant dancer. Prabhudeva(from Kaadhalan fame) used to copy many of his dance moves. There were videos from across the world who tried to dance like MJ. He was an idol for those who loved Pop Singing and dancing.

He will be remembered among all the generations.

May his soul rest in peace.

Inspiring Quote

Was just googling around and found these quotes by Swami Vivekananda Inspiring

“We are responsible for what we are, and whatever we wish ourselves to be, we have the power to make ourselves. If what we are now has been the result of our own past actions, it certainly follows that whatever we wish to be in future can be produced by our present actions; so we have to know how to act.”

“Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life - think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success; that is way great spiritual giants are produced.”

Will you marry me?

A Bright sunny day in Bangalore, India on May 13th. The Indian airlines flight from Mumbai to Bangalore lands at 7:45 AM IST (delayed by 1 hour).
Sreenath (Sree) is received by his dad at the airport. They drive back to home. The drive from airport to home is more than the time taken by flight journey :)

Sree is received by his mother at home and she had the glow in her face cause she is seeing her son after 10 months.

Sreenath works in Des Moines,Iowa for a mortgage company. What else could the job be ? Software Engineer who spends most of his typing code or googling for answers. Copy + Paste functionality is used more often. Easier way of code reuse :)

Jet Lag: The most common term used when you had a long flight journey. Its like you sleep during the day time in India when you land from US and vice-versa.

I had an excellent south Indian lunch( Mom is the best cook). Typical, One Vegetable Sabji, Sambhar, Rasam with rice and Curd Rice. It becomes an incomplete meal without curd rice.

Matrimony : I will be 28 this June , 2009 . Mom and dad want me to get married off to some good girl. This happens in everyone's house when the girl reaches

22 and for guys its when he gets a job.
In houses, where the guy has a younger sister. He waits to get married until his sister gets married.

Used to be a member of telugumatrimony.com. India has lots of martimony and marriage bureaus as is to America has lots of dating sites. Which one would you prefer??

I had no luck with telugumatrimony.com. Mom and dad registered my name in a marriage bureau in Bangalore. Usually there are exchange of photos, horoscopes and phone number among Gents and Gents, Ladies and Ladies, Gents and Ladies.

Typical Questions asked by girl's parents : Nimma maga enu maadtha idaane ? Elli odidu ? Neevu ellidavaru? Esthu jana maklu and it goes on.
(What does you son do? Where did he Study? Where are you guys from basically? How many kids do you have? )

Questions asked by guy's parents: Nimma hudugi USA ge hogakke istha idiya? Passport Idiya? etc etc
(Is your girl willing to go to USA. ? Does she have a passport? )

Kundli Matching:

Venus, Earth, Mars, Moon etc . Sounds familiar??? Kashyapa Gothra, Kaushika Gothra? @#$%%!% I still have to figure out the planets and gothra with respect to matching two minds. Please add your comments if you are familiar with these concepts.

Horoscope are matched to almost perfection. It has to be 90% or more matching. Otherwise, the courier service makes business -:). The photos and horoscopes have to be returned back.

Lies:
If the guy doesn't like the girl or the girl doesn't like the guy, we become exact opposite of Satya Harishchandra. We Lie.
Namma hudugange eevaga maduve beda antha idaane, ondu varsha hogli antha idaane .
( My son says he is not interested in marriage right now. He says he wants to get married after a year.)

Namma hudugi mundhe odbeku antha idaale , so eevaga beda andhlu maduve or horoscope match aaglilla (even though it matched).
( MY girl wants to study further, so she said no marriage until she completes her studies. ) or Horoscope didn't match.

My Journey:

Will you marry me?

My journey of Bonding with a beautiful, versatile, witty and a wonderful human being.

Day 1(Monday, April 13th, 2009) : My Parents showed me pictures of 4 different girls and when I saw niveditha ( now my fiance -:) ) immediately I said lets go and see her morrow.

Day 2(Tuesday, April 14th, 2009) :
9AM : We had a welcome at Nive's House with a glass of juice. Niv and I started our conversation just talking about each other like hobbies , interests , passions etc etc... I cannot imagine we spoke for 3 Hours and time just flew by. I made a decision at the moment that I would be happy with her for the rest of my life with and thought I would be the most lucky guy if she said "Yes". I had no idea what she thought of me that day( may be a jerk :) from US )

Day 3(Wednesday, April 15th , 2009) :
We at home were waiting for an answer from the parents of Nive, there was no response from her side until 10PM and I decided that should be it, she didn't like me and I decided to come back to US on Friday.
There we go !!! - Her dad calls at around 11PM to inform that it is a "YES" from Niv and their side... I got goosebumps when I heard that.. felt a great sense of happiness.

Day 4(Thursday, April 16th , 2009) :
Niv and her bro Siddarth decides to meet me up for a talk. I get a huge complexion when I stand next to Sid who is 6'3" tall and heavy built :)
We have a nice cup of coffee in CCD and spent 2 hrs talking in general. Fortunately, Sid liked me.

Day 5 (Friday, April 17th, 2009) :
We decide to get engaged on Sunday, April 19th and decide to go shopping on Sunday. Usually, the grooms side buy a Saree for the bride and the bride's side buy shirt and pant for the groom and also engagement rings.

Day 6 (Saturday, April 18th, 2009) : Shopping. Do I have to say anything more?

Engagement Day : April 19th - Sunday.

Engagement : Niveditha / Sreenath at a mini hall just opposite to Niv's house.
Time: 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM

We left to the mini hall at around 4PM , got a welcome with garland and Teeka ( Kumkum or dried turmeric). Niveditha was dressed up in a beautiful saree and was looking beautiful. The priest performed the rituals and when it was 8:30PM he decided to give a chance to Niv and I.

Sree: Will you marry me? I wanna grow old with you.
Niv: Yes. I would love to live my life with you.

and we exchanged rings........

For photos of engagement, please send me an email.

Curry Man

ಜೈ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ :)

Well, I am gonna share some of my cooking time which I never imagined in my truest sense that I would be actually cooking decent food.

Tried couple of dishes when I was in India and fortunately ;) I had to eat it all by myself.
Maximum I could make was mixing puliyogare( karnataka special dish) , get the powder from the store and mix with the rice, noodles and ofcourse curd rice ;) ( one of my fav )......

After coming to US and being with northies learnt to cook lots of north indian dishes . Roomies taught me the tricks to cut vegetables and prepare the mixture. One day was my turn and I took the help of my roomie and learnt about the correct mixture of spices, salt whatever to add make the dish.... mmm let me remember I guess I prepared Aloo gobi sabji.... and I added more of chilli powder probably not as much that emits smoke from the wrong place ;)

Started experimenting with lot of dishes thereafter and here I am who can cook decent food...

Specialities:

Aloo gobi sabji
Dal Palak
Tried sambhar once
red eyes for people who dont eat spicy food :)

Thanks to youtube learnt some good stuff from there as well...

Anyone ready to taste the food ???
